Cooking Instructions

Here you can find all the cooking instructions for any of the items on my website. Please remember that all stoves work a little differently, and all preferences are a little different, but these should give you a great guideline. If you find that these instructions are not working for you, or think there may be an error, please email me at hello@lovetruthandfood.ca

Apple Crumble

I recommend putting this in the oven at 350 degrees for 7-10 mins and serving warm. I will often put it in while the oven is preheating and leave it for 10 mins from when I put it in

Pasta Sauce

I recommend heating the sauce in a small pot on the stove for a few mins before putting on top of the pasta (3-6 mins on med heat should do it). Be careful, as thick pasta sauce can splatter when it gets hot. You can also microwave what you are using, or add it cold on top of the pasta if you aren’t concerned about eating it hot

Pesto

I do not recommend warming up pesto. If you are looking to spread it, say on toast or crackers, just leave it at room temp for about 10 mins and it will spread beautifully. To add to pasta, add it on cold, the hot pasta will warm it up enough to coat

Roasted Vegetable Kits

As with meat, I find people have varying preferences for how they like their vegetables cooked. From al dente (what I call medium-rare vegetables) to fully cooked and very soft. As my preference is medium rare, meaning warmed all the way through, but still with some crunch in the middle, I have set my cooking ranges around that. If you prefer your veggies a little more cooked, just leave them in for an extra cycle or two. You can cook the vegetables directly in the tin they are delivered in, however, if you need them to cook a bit quicker, you can spread them out in another pan. Please keep in mind, the smaller portions will cook faster than the larger portions. Smaller portions should be cooked closer to the shorter range, with larger portions on the longer end. Oven temperatures do vary a little, so I recommend checking your veggies every 10 mins for the first couple times until you figure you the best combo of oven time and doneness you prefer
